Pray With UsWe will do our best to post the daily prayer every school day that a prayer is read to the student body, but please be aware that there may be some days where circumstances may prevent us from posting.
Daily Prayer for 1-26-12:
We begin our day at Rosary as we begin all things: In the name of the Father, And of the Son, And of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
During this Reverence for Life week, we pray that the death penalty in our country will be turned upside down.
We pray this morning in the words of Sr. Helen Prejean:
God of compassion,
You let your rain fall on the just and the unjust
Expand and deepen our hearts
So that we may love as you love,
Even those among us
Who have caused the greatest pain – by taking life.
For there is in our land a great cry for vengeance
As we fill up death rows and kill the killers
In the name of justice…in the name of peace.
Jesus, our brother,
You suffered execution at the hands of the state,
But you did not let hatred overcome you.
Help us to reach out to victims of violence
So that our enduring love may help them heal.
Holy Spirit of God,
You strengthen us in the struggle of justice.
Help us to work tirelessly for the abolition of state-sanctioned death
And to renew our society in its very heart so that violence will be no more
For our legislators, that they will work towards an end to the death penalty in our country, we pray LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER
For our junior class on retreat today, may they come to discover the special young women God calls them to be, we pray LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER
For those visiting our school today, may they discover our community is a place of welcome, we pray LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER
For those celebrating birthdays today, we pray LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER
For the prayers written in our school prayer book and the prayers we hold in the quiet of our hearts, we pray LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER
We ask you to make our day holy as we sign ourselves with the sign of our faith and the words of the Dominican blessing:
May God, Creator bless us May God, Redeemer heal us May the Holy Spirit enlighten us and give us all we need. Amen.
